Barbara Gorton

Barbara Gorton is a potter based in Notting Hill. She grew up in a lively family, always making things and thriving on activity and the hustle and bustle of a creative home.

In her late 20’s she was looking for something to do in the winter evenings, which catalysed her love affair with ceramics and pottery. Since then her journey with pottery has led her to it being a dominant focus in her life.

Inspiration comes from museum trips, imagery of ancient pots and her current work in inspired by a collection of Greek artefacts viewed in a San Francisco museum.

Barbara’s hope is that people feel joy when they see her work. As a body of work, it’s quiet, minimal, but bold in stature.
