Mariwan Jalal is a mixed media artist utilizing a variety of materials and techniques to create subtle yet controversial works of art from ceramics to printmaking and painting His works reflect elements and stories from daily life and the status quo, and takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues. As a Kurdish artist in forced exile living in the diaspora, his art has emerged to become a reflection and mirror of his background, the turmoil of his motherland, and the shaping of his identity
